Shared Priorities for Ward pihesiwin
This campaign isn’t about promises — it’s about priorities we can agree on.As I’ve listened to residents across Ward pihesiwin, one message keeps coming through loud and clear: people are ready for common-sense leadership that focuses on results, not rhetoric. Below are the key areas I believe we can move forward on together — not by imposing top-down fixes, but by building on what residents are already asking for.Community Safety Starts with Common Ground
Public safety doesn’t improve through finger-pointing. It improves when frontline resources, practical design, and accountability work together.Improve safety and order on public transit through better design, visibility, and access control — not just after-the-fact enforcementReinforce partnerships between police, bylaw, and community services to deal with graffiti, disorder, and repeat offendersSupport safety initiatives that respect both public space and civil liberties, while avoiding costly duplication of existing lawsDevelopment That Respects the Community
Growth doesn’t have to come at the expense of what people love about their neighborhoods.Reassess current infill rules to ensure midblock developments fit the surrounding area and don’t undermine home values or neighborhood characterEnsure proper infrastructure planning before major development occurs — not as an afterthoughtProtect emergency vehicle access and parking in denser communities, especially during winter monthsGetting Real About Budget Priorities
Budgets are about choices. It’s time we get serious about making the right ones.Focus tax dollars on core services first: road maintenance, snow clearing, transit, waste, public safetyLimit spending on initiatives already handled by other levels of government (like federal climate targets), especially when the burden falls to homeownersBring transparency to how major capital projects are selected and evaluated — including what’s being deferred, delayed, or quietly reprioritizedFixing Roads Before Breaking New Ground
Residents in this ward know what decades of underinvestment look like. It’s time that changed.Push for coordinated infrastructure timelines that don’t paralyze entire sections of the Ward at onceAdvocate for real timelines and accountability on overdue upgrades like the 40th Ave/Terwillegar interchangeEmphasize smarter staging of roadwork, so that residential access, transit, and emergency routes are not all compromised simultaneouslyA City That Focuses Where It Can Make a Difference
Edmontonians want City Council to concentrate on the areas it can directly impact — and do them well.Refocus civic leadership on services and responsibilities that fall within City jurisdictionCoordinate with other levels of government where needed, but ensure core services are never deprioritizedElevate local input in decision-making, especially in areas like zoning, development, safety, and infrastructureThese Aren’t Just Campaign Issues — They’re Shared Goals
You know what needs fixing. I bring the experience, independence, and follow-through to help make it happen.Larry Langley
